What exactly determines your Shipping and Handling fee?
We take great care to ship our glass safely and securely.
Orders containing glass sizes up to 20” X 40” are shipped via FedEx Ground or UPS. They are packed with injection foam, forming a custom cushion around the glass, in high-quality 200 lb. test corrugated boxes. Parcel services base shipping rates on distance, weight, and dimensions, and includes insurance for in-transit damage. Please note, most glass orders require larger boxes, which the carriers charge at a higher rate than standard size boxes (commonly referred to as “dimensional weight”). The website will estimate shipping and boxing charges at time of order.
For glass exceeding 20" X 40", please order through your installer.

How is glass price calculated?
For pricing purposes, the size of the glass is automatically rounded up to the next higher even inch. This is a standard glass industry practice. For example, a piece that is 17 ¼” x 18 ¼” is billed as 18" x 20".
All pieces carry a minimum charge of one square foot per piece.
Rounded corners can be ordered for $3.00 extra per piece. Polished edges can be ordered for an additional $48.00 per piece.
Sizes exceeding 48" on any one dimension may have to be processed by special equipment. Additional terms and conditions, including a $500 order minimum, may apply.

I am using the glass in an entertainment center – will the glass block my TV remote control?
While this is a question best answered by your remote control or electronic device’s manufacturer, remote controls generally require a sight line between the remote and the destination device. Certain glass may block this sight line. We recommend ordering a sample of your selected glass and placing it in front of your electronic device’s receiver to determine if it blocks the signal. Furthermore, there are devices on the market, referred to as “extenders,” that enable a remote control to work in the absence of a sight line. Please check with your electronics manufacturer for details.

Do I need to order my glass in safety tempered or laminated form?
Bendheim strongly recommends tempered or laminated glass for all applications where safety and security are desired. Safety glass requirements are determined by your personal needs as well as set building codes, which can change over time and can vary by state, county, city, town or borough. You can contact your local building inspection department, office of planning and zoning, or the department of permits, to learn which codes are applicable in your area. Among other applications, safety glass is required for all doors, enclosures, partitions, and shelves in or surrounding bathtubs, showers, hot tubs, and saunas, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass partitions, frameless installations, table tops, doors and sidelites, regardless of their location. Tempered glass is up to four times stronger than regular non-safety glass, making it the only safe choice for glass shelving. How do I measure for my cabinet glass?
For standard square & rectangular glass inserts, you will first need to determine your “rough opening” size. This is the opening the glass insert will fit into. From the back side, carefully measure the width and the height of the rough opening where the glass insert will be placed. Then deduct 1/8" from the width and 1/8" from the height measurements. For example, if the rough opening measures 14" x 24" - you would order a glass insert that is 13 7/8" x 23 7/8". For detailed measuring instruction, please click here.

When installing the glass, which side faces outward?
It is truly a matter of aesthetics and personal preference. However, etched glasses are most often installed to face out toward the room.

I made a mistake on my order; may I change it?
Once an order is submitted and processed, it cannot be cancelled or changed. If, however, the glass has not yet been fabricated, we will be pleased to accommodate your request.

I received the wrong size glass. What do I do?
We guarantee your glass to be within +/- 1/16” of the size submitted on your order. This “cutting tolerance” is standard in the glass industry and should not be an issue if our measuring instructions have been carefully followed. If your glass exceeds this tolerance, please take a photo of the glass with a measuring tape showing the size of the glass received and forward to us. We will re-cut or replace the glass in question at no charge.

There is a small scratch on my glass. Is it defective?
Decorative glasses are not manufactured in the same manner as regular window glass. In most cases, small imperfections such as seeds (bubbles) and an occasional small surface abrasion are part of the glass’s character and are not considered defects. We take great care in handling your order. Every piece of glass is carefully inspected before shipping.

Why does my glass appear slightly different from the picture on your website?
The decorative glasses featured on our website may exhibit some variation in color and/or pattern from sheet to sheet. Also, the obscuring properties of some glasses are enhanced or diminished by specific lighting conditions. We strongly recommend ordering samples to be able to view the glass in the settings and lighting conditions of your project.
